Michigan Lemon Law

The Michigan Lemon Law provides a remedy for consumers who have defective cars.

Under the Lemon law, you are presumed to have satisfied the requirements if your car has been presented for warranty repairs as follows:

(1) Either four times for the same defect or condition and the problem must continue; or

(2) The car was out of service for 30 days due to repairs during the first year of ownership.

Contact us to determine if you meet the requirements of the Michigan lemon law. Like many laws, the Michigan lemon law is open to interpretation, and a consumer should rely on the advice of an attorney to determine if the lemon law has been satisfied.

If your car meets the Michigan lemon law you may be entitled to a refund of the car’s purchase price or a replacement car.

Even if your repair history does not satisfy the lemon law, your car’s repair history may be sufficient to qualify you for damages under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act requires that your vehicle be presented for repeated repairs. This is a very effective law that helps to provide consumers money damages and sometimes relief in the form of a repurchase/replacement when the Michigan lemon law may not apply.

The Michigan lemon law and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act require the manufacturer to pay you attorney fees if successful in proving your claim. Therefore, any advice or actual representation that our Michigan lemon law attorneys provide to our clients may be at no charge to you.
